1. If you are having difficulty finding musicians – organists, guitar players, bagpipers, etc… please contact me & perhaps I’ll be able to offer some advice in that area.
2. If you have any questions about the songs – if you find you like the sentiment of a song but don’t know the tune, I can usually send a recording of that song to you.
3. The selections provided here are a partial list. The suggestions of the bride and groom are most heartily welcomed to add their song to their day - if you want a favorite hymn at your wedding, you should have your favorite hymn at your wedding!! And please be advised that although many priests and choir directors will argue about the liturgical correctness of a particular song, (especially a secular one) most dioceses have no formal restrictions concerning the ‘legality’ of wedding music...
4. Because the entrance and exit of the bride and groom coincide with the beginning and end of the ceremony, the are no entrance and exit vocals - traditionally, the organ (or piano or guitar or bagpipes or, even once, a ukelele!) is played at these occasions.
5. The suggested hymns on this list have been chosen for several reasons - they are the most requested, they are well known (making for the further enjoyment of the congregation) and they reflect the message and spirit of the marriage ceremony.
6. Traditionally, the titles and corresponding numbers of “community songs" (such as the gathering & responsorial psalms) are included in the written program of the wedding. If you’d like assistance incorporating music into your program, let me know.
